Maverick Mission, Massive Impact, Minimal Investment.

From Vision to Action: How I’m Building Home Companions

In my relentless journey as a business consultant, I’ve never accepted the limits of conventional thinking. Maverick at heart, I disrupt norms, shatter expectations, and embrace radical approaches to fuel growth. My track record proves that sticking to the rulebook doesn’t lead to groundbreaking success, but what I’m doing now with Home Companions is my loudest statement yet.

Home Companions™ taps into the rapidly expanding demand for aged care services—deliberately sidestepping the quagmire of government regulations that weigh down traditional healthcare models. This isn’t about healthcare or medical services; it’s about companionship and human connection, a simple yet powerful response to an industry bogged down by unnecessary complexity. We’re taking care into the home, where regulations don’t get in the way of providing what people truly need—support, presence, and care.

Building Home Companions™ from scratch, with minimal capital, proves what I’ve always stood for: resourcefulness, adaptability, and a drive to challenge the impossible. Right now, I’m setting everything up while abroad, using only my laptop, distant from my usual office suite back in Australia. Despite being temporarily cut off from critical government contacts, I continue to push forward, knowing that certain tasks must wait until my return. But this just highlights the beauty of building in phases, seizing opportunities in real-time, and letting ingenuity fill the gaps.

At 73, I’m proving that experience, enthusiasm, and a maverick mindset can build something scalable, bold, and disruptive. Franchising may be an option, but I’m not one to be boxed in by high costs and restrictive models. I’ll be fighting to carve out new, alternative paths—lean, powerful, and unbound by traditional franchise red tape.

The Full Monty of Innovation: My Next Big Leap

It’s now October 23rd 2024, and I’ve reached a turning point in this journey. I’ve fine-tuned every detail of the Home Companions™ website—H1s, H2s, SEO, colours, links, everything aligns perfectly. Returning to Australia in 2 weeks all was ready to launch. But my vision has grown. Where I once imagined a staged rollout, starting with a modest hands-on approach and building towards a smart pseudo-franchise, avoiding legislative scrutiny, I now see a path not trodden, and the vision is clear: but sorry, I cannot divulge the fine detail of my dastardly plan.

The financials aren’t small. Development could easily top $300k, with marketing adding another $200k. But here’s the thing: the numbers stack up. It’s scalable, it’s bold, and it’s my Everest. I’ve set my sights higher, ready to re-engineer the IT on a platform that can handle this behemoth.

It’s a daring vision, and while there are big obstacles—mainly funding—it feels like the right move. I’m energised, tea in hand, and about to dive deep into this uncharted jungle. It’s exciting, it’s ambitious, and it’s a pure reflection of what I stand for—no limits. This is just the beginning.
